About the Artist
Travis grew up in Salem, Idaho on a small farm - with everything that farm life has to offer. He milked cows, rode horses, and learned quickly how to fix things that were broke. He is a true handyman. He has been shoeing horses now for nearly 14 years. His hands hold an exactness that others don't. He takes what he does very seriously, no matter the task. In 2008, because of a slow season of shoeing and a wife who wanted to get her hands on some real Western decor for their home, they started experimenting. Some used horseshoes, old metal, and reclaimed wood from around the farm lent to many experiments. Micall, Travis' wife, caught on real quick. If she found something she wanted, she could show Travis and almost always he could build it, weld it, or fix it up. That led to many late nights in the barn, however the result was an accumulation of classy Western decor, beautiful rustic furniture, and even a true-to-life sculpture of a horse welded from 452 recycled horseshoes.
When Travis isn't out in the barn or shop, he stays very busy entertaining his six kids. With 3 boys and 3 girls, including four year old twins, there's never a dull moment. He has a strong desire to make sure his kids learn how to work hard. It's obvious to anyone who knows Travis that his kids have a great example of this in their dad. One of the biggest reasons he loves doing this work is because he is at his home, surrounded by the things and people he loves best.
